Playground Improvement Project

Help improve our children's playground...

$2000 improvement project of the Loreto Central Elementary School Playground - to be funded by LUSCAN

Brief History

In the island towns and barangays of Loreto and Tubajon, there are no decent playgrounds for children to play. It is rather sad to see them playing in rural streets using sea-shells as play toys, scribbling hopscotch and playing marbles on dirt soil. There are local games that children play especially during moonlit evenings, but that is all about children’s life in these 5th class communities. In modern cities, there are nice inter-active playgrounds but the children in these towns and barangays do not have quality play time.

Here are some pictures of their playgrounds:

2009 News Briefs

During the 2009 LUSCAN reunion, the members of LUSCAN unanimously approved a matching amount of USD$1,000 to Nora Galido’s donation of USD$1,000 to allocate for children’s playground in the municipality of Loreto, Province of Dinagat Island.

Since LUSCAN’s goals coincide with helping and enhancing the lives of Loretenos and Tubajonians, this charitable offer was given to the Loreto Central Elementary School whose playground was found to be dilapidated, improvised, and non-deserving to Loreto’s school children.

In the summer of 2009, Mr. & Mrs. Cesar Paniamogan brought the amount of USD $2,000 to LCES Principal Rex Paquiding for the playground improvement. This project was started in September 2009 and its construction is estimated to be completed by the end of November.

LUSCAN’s future goals will include more playground installations in the town of Tubajon, and at various schools in the towns and barangays of Loreto and Tubajon.

"Since the arrival of the new playground, she has since seen that pupil attendance has improved and children have more interest in going to school. Children have more motivation, are happier and have an outlet for their energy and their need to play with other kids.”- According to Teacher Leah Domdom In Barangay Nenita in Northern Samar’s Mondragon municipality of their new playground donated by UNICEF."

As a donor, you are giving them a happy and brighter future and will be an inspiration to the school children.
